South Kalimantan is a province in Indonesia which is located on the island of Kalimantan. Capital is Banjarmasin. This region have many large rivers and small rivers (canals). Many community activities are conducted in the river, including the activities of trade, known as float market. Banjarmasin city residents are still many who live on the water. Homes built over the pole or on a raft in river side.

River culture continue to grow providing shade and interesting culture. One of the most interesting tourist activities in the city of Banjarmasin is walking through rivers and canals. Purlieus natural river is still original and tourists can go along the Martapura and Barito river using the Klotok boat or speedboat.

Float market is the traditional market that has been used since and is a reflection of the cultural river of Banjar people. The market is a unique place to do transaction on the water using the large and small boats that came from various corners. Float market only take in the morning every day and can be achieved within 30 minutes by the Klotok boat from the city of Banjarmasin.

Tourism in the surrounding Banjarmasin such as Sultan Suriansyah Tomb, Pangeran Antasari Tomb, Sultan Suriansyah Mosque, Muara Kuin and Lok Baintan Float Market, Nanang and Galuh Festive at Banjar, Wasaka Museum, Surgi Mufti Dome and Sasirangan. In addition Lambung Mangkurat Museum in Banjarbaru, Kembang and Kaget Island at the Barito Kuala and Laksado nature tourism in the Selatan River upstream.

Wealth of flora and fauna in South Kalimantan where possible kept as part of the wealth of natural resources. This is done in conservation efforts in natural resources which include conservation in forests and conservation areas outside the forest area. Especially in the area of forest conservation is done through the development of the nature reserve. Among other Kaget Island Nature Reserve, Nature Reserve of Mount Kentawan, Pelaihari Martapura and Tanah Laut Nature Reserve.

A native of South Kalimantan are generally Banjar tribe that essentially consists of several tribes that is Maayan, Lawangan and Bukiat mixing with the tribe Malay, Javanese and Bugis. Banjar growing community in the art of literature and art of beautiful sound, the original association of day-to-day activity among them are sometimes with poetic language and verse, and sometimes the humor among youngster.

Sasirangan batik is unique in South Kalimantan in antiquity used to chase away evil spirits and used only by the people as descendants of kings and noble. Process is still done traditionally.

Banjar Tribe houses is a house with a roof of a high pitched when viewed from the side look like the pyramid (Bubungan Tinggi House). Houses in different forms of each other and can explain social status of the owner. House for ordinary people generally quadrangular or rectangular.

Mandau is a traditional Dayak tribe sword made in the village Hadirau and Banyu. Build using simple equipment and a group of craftsmen and completed only for decoration. But sometime there are Mandau made by experts and the sword is held to have magical power filled through the ritual ceremony.
